FIREFIGHTERS are tackling a fire in Southend town centre.

Smoke drifted over High Street as two bins in an alleyway between Alexandra Street and Clarence Street burned.

Staff from Clarence Yard, a pub next to the alley, fought the fire, which started about 11am, with fire extinguishers while waiting for the firefighters to arrive.

Alexandra Street is blocked by the fire engine.

i bet they're hiding just around the corner laughing their heads off...... nothing like a few pranks during the summer holiday's to pass the time, and the old bin fire is a firm favourite.......

Quite an attention grabbing headline - then you see the picture and it is a wheelie bin down a side road.
"Alexandra Street is blocked by the fire engine." Lets face it, a supermarket trolly would block that street. Poor story - obviously a quiet news day out there thus far!

I agree with Pembury to be honest. Probably just kids having a laugh. We used to make fires all the time in parks. Nothing better then fire. It's so cool. Heat, smoke, flames. Love it.

I know. Why should I though. I love making and causing a misery for everyone else.
