RAYLEIGHWindmill is hosting to an exhibition showing what life was like in Rayleigh 100 years ago, at the outbreak of the First World War.
The exhibition was organised by the Rayleigh Through the Looking Glass charity, in conjunction with Rochford District Council.
It includes a display historical photographs of the town, taken in 1914 when the First World War started, and will also feature the records and family photos of 204 Rayleigh men who fought in the conflict, including 92 who never returned.
Mike Davies, Rayleigh Through the Looking Glass Volunteer, said: “We spend a lot of our time researching the history of Rayleigh and obviously the Great War is a significant part of this. It is only right and proper that we commend the sacrifices made by the Rayleigh men who fought in the conflict.”
