DETECTIVES in Southend are appealing for information after a man was assaulted at a pub in Leigh.

The victim, who is in his forties and from Rochford, was drinking in the Woodcutters Arms on the evening of Saturday, August 9.

At around 9pm four men entered the pub and attacked the man with what was thought to be either a baton or a baseball style bat.

He suffered a broken arm and received cuts to his head. He was taken to Southend Hospital for treatment by a paramedic. Another man was also injured but did not wish to give details to the police.

Officers would like anyone who may have witnessed the assault to come forward and speak to them.

The only descriptions of the attackers officers have are that they are two white men and two black men.
