A CAT welfare charity is desperately searching for new foster homes.

The Basildon and Brentwood branch of Cats Protection has been inundated with kittens found dumped in the street.

Two tiny ginger kittens and two black and white kittens were abandoned in Laindon.

Janet Rouse, treasurer of the charity, said residents are finding boxes of cats in garages, gardens and sheds.

The branch, which is run by a team of dedicated volunteers, is looking after 90 cats. It also has a long waiting list of animals waiting to be fostered.

Mrs Rouse said: “Unfortunately we have been unable to help everyone who has called us as our foster homes are full to the brim now. We really need some additional foster places.

“Potential fosterers need a spare room or no cats of their own and to live in our area.”
