Win bug hunt with TV star

First published in News

TO celebrate the opening of a Canvey bug reserve, youngsters can win a night with a wildlife expert.

To win a moth trapping night with Steve Backshall from TV’s Deadly 60, simply paint, draw or make a collage picture of your favourite bug and say why it’s your favourite.

Canvey Wick SSSI – Britain’s first bug reserve – is home to over 1,400 different types of bug. There are two age categories, five to nine years old and ten to 14 years old.

Post your entries to: Bug Art Competition, Buglife, Bug House, Ham Lane, Peterborough, PE2 5UU, by Wednesday, September 10.

Great idea. My kids loved doing this kind of stuff when they were younger. I believe they do pond dipping there too. Mind you, I used to enjoy it as much as the kids did.

One of the best places for that is Dungeness, Kent. All manner of creatures there including the only place in the British Isles you can see leeches. However, they are tiny ones.

And it's the only desert in the UK.
