MATTRESSES, a trampoline and a childメs paddling pool were among flytipped rubbish cleared by volunteers.

Members of Westborough Community Association and Kevin Robinson, Labour councillor for Westborough, have cleared rubbish from an alley between Northview Drive and Westcliff Park Drive, Westcliff.

Organiser David Webb, of the residents' group, said: "This was a combined effort and only a few months ago this was cleaned by myself and former Lib Dem councillor Paul Collins in April.

"We have asked the police at local meeting to put a camera to capture the fly-tippers, however the two cameras had to be used to catch drug takers and dealers in Westborough.

"A huge thank you to all those who co-operated and worked together keeping Westborough a cleaner area."

Within 45 minutes the group managed to collect three bags of clothes, four bicycle tyres, two double mattresses, a microwave, a computer hard drive, a broken double bed, a foot stool, two bags of soil, a paddling pool, a side cabinet, a trampoline and wood.

The alleyway is the joint responsibility of the owners of the houses that back onto it.

Westcliff does seem to be drowning under a sea of dumped crap,, but lets face it no-one has carried a double matress from hadleigh to dump it in westcliff, this is a local problem and shows the type of people that now inhabit this area.

I used to dump rubbish at the Rayleigh waste site on my way to work. They now only open 9 to 5 plus they have also stopped the Thursday night late session.

Another problem is that if a large lorry arrives for health and safety reasons the site can be shut for up to 45 minutes.

No way can you condone fly tipping but the council do make it difficult to actual dump waste at the proper sites.

Essex Police only have two surveylance cameras? Is that a joke?

Perhaps the council can help or, maybe, as it is their responsibility, the house owners could sort out a surveylance camera between them. They are not exactly expensive these days and if the police are "unable" (probably more like "unwilling") to help stop this crime then I'm afraid the owners of the house need to take matters into their own hands and obtain the evidence.
The house owners could always gate off the alleyway.

"surveillance" not "surveylance"

As you have so often been on my case, spitting venomous bile and making enormous and totally preposterous assumptions about me based on fictitious and Photoshopped crap online - and my perfectly reasoned opinions based on experience and knowledge, even though you don't know me, I thought I'd point out one of your shortcomings - apart from your inability to separate truth from fiction.

Does your pc not have a spellchecker? Or do you just ignore it?

Oh and with regard to this story - I doubt the owners would be allowed to gate off a public right of way.

As for the police, they'd rather chase motorists who were doing 5mph over the limit or decent people who defend their property from lawbreakers.

The people of Crays Hill had to put up with this problem for years; dumped three piece suites down country lanes, burnt out cars etc... nothing ever got done about that either.

The police just don't care. Criminals and anti social types can do as they please; it's decent people the police keep their eye on.

Come to think of it, it's the same thing on here.. people who have something genuine to say based on fact are thumbs downed or subjected to abuse by morons with names like "sesibollox" or "no 1 village idiot", eh "Alan Ball"?

You seem to be taking a much more liberal attitude to criminal behaviour that in your other posts:
"Yobbish behaviour is on the increase both online and off because of the liberal Left's attitude to bad behaviour, which they excuse on a massive scale." ... "Right from terrorists, down to the local community nuisance, they all need hard line punishment that is truly fitting for the level of the crime they commit."
My point is that if you take a view like that (which is fair enough), you can't then pick and chose the laws that you want to enforce. People who speed are NOT decent. They kill.
That tired old cliche about the police having better things to do than chase speeders is actually correct. They do have better things to do. However, while selfish arseholes are endangering lives by speeding, they don't have a lot of choice, do they? If people care about the police tacking 'real' crime, then perhaps those same people should stop wasting their time?
Also, for someone who once had aspirations of being in politics, you don't seem to have a very thick skin?
