HUNDREDS of people pulled on their football boots for charity.
Professional referee Michael Smith, 30, from Basildon, was diagnosed with testicular cancer at the beginning of this year, but is on the mend.
He and his family organised a charity football tournament to raise money for the Orchid Charity, which supports men through their battle with cancer.
Dozens of teams signed up and battled it out at Basildon PO Sports and Social Club, in Gardiners Way. The money is still being counted, but it is thought more than £2,700 was raised.
