Callous burglars have left a little girl with special needs heartbroken after they stole her prized possessions.

They broke into her home in Broomfields, Basildon, and stole a white Nintendo Wii Console and a silver Apple iPod Touch.

They ransacked the home after breaking in through the back door between 11.15am and 12.20pm last Tuesday and also stole two laptops.

Investigating officer PC Rob Mackenzie said: "Any burglary is distressing but for this family their misery has been compounded by the theft of these items which are especially important to this little girl. The iPod had all of the girl’s favourite music on and she has been left absolutely heartbroken by the loss of all her favourite songs. The family cannot afford to replace these items and have all been left terribly upset.”

If anyone saw any suspicious behaviour in the area at the time or has been offered any of these items for sale they are asked to contact PC Mackenzie at Basildon Police Station on 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
