THE future looks bright for Canvey boy Jordi Whitworth as his boyband Overload dominates the X Factor.

The five-piece boyband have been praised by the judges and have wowed audiences watching the ITV show.

Former Girls Aloud member and X Factor judge Cheryl Fernandez- Versini picked Jordi, 19, from Canvey out from the group and called him a “little studmuffin” at the first round of auditions.

Jordi, a window fitter by day, said: “I didn’t even have to get four yeses after Cheryl called me a little studmuffin – that was enough for me, for her to call me a studmuffin and all that.”

After aceing the second round to get through to the boot camp, hopes are high the boys could make it to the live finals.

The current line-up featuring Jordi, Ryan Robertson, 18, from Basildon, Joey, from South Wales, Ollie, from Bristol, and Andy, from Manchester, have only been performing together for three months.

Music mogul Blair Dreelan who runs Alphadog Management and managed popular boyband Union J before and during their time on the TV talent contest, put the current line-up together in March.

“Olly and Joey met each other on Twitter and put out an advert for a boy band,” explains Jordi.

“Ryan got in contact with them and because we are both from Essex, we have mutual friends, and they put him in touch with me.

“I became the fourth member.

Andy was playing guitar for a mate of ours. So the current line-up has been a few months, but we had been together for a year before Andy joined.”

With their legion of teenage fans, the band, who are inspired by Backstreet Boys and N Sync, are making the most of social media with nearly 62,000 likes on Facebook and 25,000 followers on Twitter.

The band’s families are also supporting the boys. Jordi’s sister Jade, 30, said: “I’m so proud of him.

“We are a really close family and we are close to the boys in the band and their brothers and sisters and parents just one big Overload family.

“We are all really proud of them and they work so hard and work non-stop to keep in touch with their fans.”

Jordi, a former pupil at Castle View School, never thought he would end up singing for a living.

He said: “I’ve been singing all my life, I never really took it seriously as a career. But seeing the boys when we get in the band and the reaction we get, it’s amazing.”

So with former X Factor success story One Direction heading for world domination, is there room for another boyband to hit the charts?

“I think there’s definitely a slot in the market for us,” says Jordi.

“We want a long-lasting career.

We want to travel the world and make people smile. We want to sell out arenas and have fun.”

Cheryl has continued to pick Jordi out for his role in the band which he says can be described as “the cheeky chappy”.

He added: “We are working on an album and next time you see us on X Factor, we are singing an old country song, definitely not something people would expect.”

The band impressed Simon Cowell with their original song No, No, No and if the judges’ yeses continue, Overload will be on our screens for a long time to come.
