A YOUNG mum who ran screaming into the street after her toddler was burnt with scalding tea wants to find the good Samaritan who stopped to help, so she can thank her.

Karen Little was having a picnic with some other mums in Southchurch Park in Southend when her 23-month-old son Rylie picked up the cup of tea, which had just been poured, and tipped it over himself.

As he screamed in pain, panicstricken Karen, 23, picked him up and ran with him towards the nearby Little Stars nursery.

She said: “I ran out into the street with him and a woman sawme running and stopped and gave me a lift to the hospital.

“She was really great and helped to calm me down on the way.

“She even asked me if I needed any more help when we go the hospital.

“I ran in with him and they took him straight through to triage. He’d burnt himself over his chest and belly. They wrapped him in clingfilm and then sent us to paediatrics and dressed the wounds. The doctors said they were superficial and will heal.”

The mum-of-three from Gordon Road, Southend said: “The lady got us to the hospital far quicker than I could have got there as I would have had to take him on the bus.” A friend who was at the picnic took care of Rylie’s twin Libby throughout the drama.

His other sibling, Eloise, three, was safe at nursery.

Miss Little said: “It all happened so quickly. A mum poured out some tea and Rylie just leant over and grabbed it. I would really like to find the lady who helped us and thank her properly because without her, Rylie could have been a lot worse.”

The woman was in her fifties, of medium height and build with light brown hair and wore a blue polo shirt with the words Cavendish Engineers. She was driving a red Fiat 500.
