THE Firemusic International Contemporary Music festival reaches an inspirational finale this week with a unique artistic collaboration between music and the visual arts.

The project’s title, Different Journeys, stems from composer Trevor Taylor’s travels through the Pyrenees.

The piece will be played by the jazz group Masdar, with Trevor providing the percussion, alongside Gary Plumley (saxophones, flutes), Mike King (keyboards), and Jon Thorn (bass).

Juxtaposed with the music will be a display of visual arts from the community groups Open Arts, and 2 Create.

The artworks created by the community groups will be projected onto large screens during the musical performance.

Firemusic organiser Chas Mumford said: “The process will add a different dimension for viewing this work, from what is usually experienced in a static display or formal gallery setting”

Masdar takes its name from an Arabic word meaning “the source”, and is also the name of the newmultibillion pound eco city being built near Abu Dhabi.

Chas says: “Much of the group’s music is dedicated to the philosophy behind the creation of this city and the positive progress of humanity it represents”.

Different Journeys is at Old Hadleigh Fire Station, London Road, Hadleigh, on Friday, September 26, at 8pm.

Tickets cost £5
