A MOTORCYCLIST who was trapped under a bus in a horror smash has suffered life changing injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision in Old Leigh Road, Leigh, yesterday afternoon, between a motorbike, single decker bus a Citroen C4 and a Jaguar X-type.

Fire fighters from Leigh rushed to the scene to try and free the 20-year-old motorcyclist from Southend. They called crews from Grays to attend with its specialist rescue tender.

After more than half an hour under the bus, the man was moved to safety and treated by paramedics.

He was rushed to Southend Hospital with serious injuries which police describe at “life changing”.

A 68-year-old woman who was a passenger on the bus was taken to hospital in Southend for treatment to chest injuries before being discharged.

The crash happened just after 4.20pm, blocking the road with its junction with Leigh Road. Officers closed the road for eight hours while initial investigations were carried out at the scene.
