FUNDRAISERS will climb over hay bales and run across fields in the dark in a bid to raise money for a children’s hospice.

Night Rush Extreme Run will take place tomorrowunder cover of darkness at Action Park, along the A127 in Wickford.

Hardy fundraisers taking part will tackle either the 5k or 10k course, which will see them climbing over hay bales, crawl under nets, through spiders’ webs and across farm fields.

The event, in aid of Little Havens Hospice, Thundersley, is in its third year. Organisers hope to raise £20,000 for seriously-ill children across the county by attracting more than 200 people to take part.

A 5k route has been included for the first time in a bid to encourage more people to participate.

Sainsbury’s Local, in Eastwood, will be there on the night providing water and fruit to participants, as well as giving out goody bags to the 50 volunteers who will be marshalling and providing support at the event.

Jane Hopkins, event fundraiser at Little Havens, said: “Night Rush Extreme Run is one of the most physically challenging events we hold, but it has proved extremely popular as it is a real test of endurance.

“Each week, Little Havens must raise £46,000 to provide care and support for babies, children and teenagers with a life-limiting condition and their families.

“This is only possible thanks to people who take part in our events.

Together, we’re making every day count for those who need our care.”

The event begins at 8pm tomorrow.

Entry is £25 for the 10k run and £18 for the 5k run, with discounts available for groups of ten or more.
