A POPULAR shopping street was transformed into a winter wonderland this weekend.
Thorpe Bay Broadway was filled with fairground rides, stalls, entertainment and shoppers as traders put on a “winter extravaganza” for the second year running on Saturday.
Children lined up to visit Father Christmas in his grotto as mums and dads munched on mince pies and other winter treats.
Shoebury Dynamix Glee Club, from Shoebury High School, gave an energetic performance and a show choir belted out Christmas favourites.
The event raised money for Thorpe Bay Rotary Club and Thorpe Bay Business Association.
Luke Adams, of AR Adams Funeral Directors, who is a member of the business association, said: “It was well-supported this year – even more than last year.
“It’s increasing year-on-year.
“It’s a great day for the community to come together and for businesses to give something back to customers they have served throughout the year.
“We are looking to improve it even more next year.”
