THOUSANDS of railway enthusiasts attended one of the largest model exhibitions in the South East.

More than 4,000 flocked to the 32nd Model Railway Exhibition, at Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre, this weekend to see model train, planes and boats from across the country.

The 30,000sq foot exhibition, organised by Shoeburyness Model Railway Club, also included radio controlled cars, trade stands and Lego.

Roy Ginn, of High Street, Shoebury, who is club chairman, said: “It has gone very well. We have layouts from all over England.

“Everyone is happy and most traders say their sales are up.”

The club has already begun planning next year.
