Police cordoned off a stretch of road in Southend this evening.
Victoria Avenue, outside the Thamesgate building, was cordoned off around 4.40pm but had reopened before 5pm.
It is not yet known the precise reason for the action, however it is though it could have been as a result of someone throwing items from the building.
The cordoned off stretch was not part of the main carriageway, but instead the slip road that runs parallel to the A127 and did not affect rush hour traffic.
