A MAJOR emergency services response was launched after a car was discovered in the River Crouch.
South Woodham Coastguard, Burnham RNLI, Essex Police and Essex Fire and Rescue scrambled to the report of the vehicle in the river near Hullbridge at 2.10pm yesterday.
When units reached the scene it was established that no one was in difficulty, and the car was later removed from the river by local services.
