A SCHOOL is celebrating after being awarded a national teaching accolade.
The Bromfords, in Grange Avenue, Wickford, has been praised for getting youngsters out of the classroom to boost their learning experiences.
Staff and pupils have received a bronze Learning Outside the Classroom award for schools which understand the benefits of educational trips.
Martin Coulson, deputy headteacher, said: “This is a coup for staff and governors as it shows we are making strides in providing pupils with potentially life-changing opportunities.
“We’re thrilled to get official recognition for our efforts and look forward to building on this award to integrate learning outside the classroom into the everyday life of the school.
“We are only the fourth secondary in the country, and the first secondary and fourth school of any type in Essex to be recognised with this award.’’
