POLICE found nearly 100 cannabis plants following a raid at a house in Aveley this morning.

Officers entered the terraced property in Manor Close South following a tip off to find 92 plants in two separate rooms.

A third room was in the process of being converted into a grow room and a bathroom full of chemicals including liquid silicon.

The rooms where the plants were found were kitted out with dozens of lamps, ventilation and reflective walls, with the plants all at various phases of growth.

A 59-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the find. Police are yet to value the find.

PC Rob Mackenzie, from Grays station, said: “We received some intelligence and we acted on that quite quickly.

“We didn’t know how much would be here, but we knew the property was being used for cultivation.

He added: “You never know what you’re coming into but we knew were likely to find something.”
