MORE than £500 was raised towards Tracy Ralph’s rehabilitation thanks to a strongman competition at a Hockley gym.

Tracy had to have her legs and fingers amputated after contracting meningitis shortly after Christmas.

Since her family set up a fundraising page in January, donations have flooded in and the fund stands at more than £130,000.

Ian Hardy, a friend of Tracy’s husband, took his passion for fitness and created the Hockley’s strongest man competition to add to the total.

Held at Hockley Gym, Ian set up fittest man and woman competitions which involved a three mile cycle, a one mile run and then a one kilometre row.

A separate strongest man competition included five events involving heavy lifting.

Mr Hardy fittingly won the strongest man competition with Mo Robinson and Abbie Lockwood victorious in the endurance events.
