Do you have an idea for a community project for the Nevendon area of Wickford focusing on improving community spirit, local knowledge and communication, creating more opportunities for young people, or supporting older people?

The fifth in a series of public meetings for Wickford residents to discuss ways to enhance the area takes place this week and will see to formation of working groups who will develop community initiatives around the above themes.

These initiatives will then form part of a ‘neighbourhood agreement’.

This meeting will be held on Thursday 12 March, from 6.30pm at St. Andrew's Church, Wickford (next to the Police Station).

A neighbourhood agreement act as a ‘deal’ between local people and organisations in the area in which each party makes commitments about how they will help improve the area.

Basildon Council’s cabinet member for environment and community, Cllr Terri Sargent, said: “We have had very positive feedback from the previous public meetings held and are now looking for residents to get involved in the working groups being formed.

“If you have an idea which fits into the themes identified from the public meetings, please do attend the March meeting, or get in touch with the council’s community development officer so your ideas can be put forward.”
