A DRIVER will appear in court accused of a string of driving offences after failing to stop for police.
Connor Annereau, 18, a labourer from Hamstel Avenue, Southend, has been charged with driving a motor vehicle dangerously, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance.
Officers were on patrol in a police car in Woodgrange Drive, Southend, at 10.55pm on Friday, March 20, when they asked a blue BMW 323i to pull over.
The car failed to stop, forcing officers to follow it to Burdett Avenue, Northumberland Avenue, Lifstan Way and onto Eastern Avenue and Royal Artillery Way.
The police chase, which took place at speeds of between 30 and 65 miles per hour, continued to Southchurch Boulevard.
The police helicopter was also deployed to follow the vehicle.
Officers were finally able to stop the car outside Southend High School for Girls, in Southchurch Boulevard, by using a stinger device.
Annereau will remain in police custody until his appearance at Southend Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.
A 21-year-old man from Southend, who was also arrested in connection with the incident, has been released without charge.
A 22-year-old man from Southend has been bailed until Thursday, April 30, pending further police enquiries.
