* MAXWELL Communications Corporation, headed by Robert Maxwell's son

Kevin, is selling Macmillan Computer Publishing to Paramount

Communications for $157.7m (#88.86m) as part of its effort to cut debts

of up to #1400m.

MCC plans more sell-offs. It announced the #150m sale of Berlitz

language courses when the shares returned from suspension on November 7.

The sale of Macmillan, which publishes books and computer software, is

conditional on clearance from US authorities. It made a profit of $17.5m

Paramount Communications plans to merge Macmillan into its Simon &

Schuster publishing division.
