A CAMPAIGN by Fife Police, including the installation of spy cameras

around the world-famous Old Course in St Andrews, has drastically

reduced the number of thefts of golf clubs from tourists' vehicles.

Last year, 61 sets of clubs valued at almost #73,000 were stolen. This

year, 25 sets of clubs valued at #23,000 were stolen.

The campaign was launched because of fears over the area's

multi-million pound tourist trade.
