"DEVIL Wears Prada" killer Paul Townsley was today starting a 17-year jail sentence for murder.

At the High Court in Glasgow, he was ordered to serve at least that term for plunging a knife into Neil Martin, 20, at a party.

Neil's dad, also Neil, said: "Paul Townsley was identified as the killer because he never took off his Prada hat, not even when he was murdering my son."

As revealed in later editions of yesterday's Evening Times, Lord Carloway told Townsley he would write to the parole board saying they should "be careful in considering you for release at all".

He added: "This was a callous and brutal murder and from your demeanour in court you have no remorse whatsoever."

Townsley, 24, of Saltmarket, Glasgow, who has previous convictions for violence, attacked BT engineer Neil from Summerston, after being asked to leave a party.

Neil's sister Jaclyn, 17, tended her brother as he lay dying. She said: "He had so much to look forward to."

Townsley was also found guilty of attempting to murder Neil's best pal, Stephen Quinn, 20 - who survived despite being repeatedly stabbed - and was sentenced to 10 years for the murder bid.

Townsley's friend Christopher Riddell, 23, of Kingfisher Drive, was also convicted of the attempted murder of Mr Quinn, and jailed for seven years.

Townsley's brother Stephen, 20, of Kelso Street, Yoker, was found guilty of assaulting Mr Quinn. His nine month sentenced was backdated and he walked free.

The court heard Neil asked Paul Townsley and his group to leave a house party in Ruchill, on May 20 and was attacked.
