A BEVY of beauties took to the stage to compete for the coveted title of Miss Essex 2015.

12 of the county’s most glamorous women battled it out in the grand final at the Genting Club in Westcliff on Thursday night.

Devon Mayson was crowned Miss Essex 2015, with Amy Moring taking second place and Natalie Pickthall coming third.

Former mayor of Southend Sally Carr, businessman Gareth Light, Genting Club Westcliff’s general manager Simon Woodford and Thurrock Gazette editor Gary Pearson made up the judging panel looking for more than just good lucks and a sense of humour.

Event organiser and Miss England 2008, Laura Coleman said: “We are looking for natural young role models, who have a love for life, community and travel.

“In other words, we are seeking well-rounded individuals who represent all the great things that Essex is famous for and work towards stamping out the common misperception of Essex girls”

The ladies competed in three rounds including interview, black dress and evening wear.

More than 50 people packed out the club to see Miss Mason take the crown.
