PARENTS are being urged to be vigilant after two young girls were followed on their way to school.
The nine and 11 year-olds were walking close to Greenstead Primary School, in Kirby Road, Basildon, when they were followed by up to two men in a blue car.
One of the men got out of the car and chased the girls, who ran off.
The incident took place around 8am.
The girls were left feeling shaken up, but were not injured in the incident.
The suspect is described as a white, middle aged man wearing a grey Nike tracksuit, a black hoodie and a black beanie hat.
Anyone with any information or who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time is asked to contact Pc Rachel Pearsons at Basildon Police station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 55 111.
