A CANVEY dance teacher has made the live finals of Britain’s Got Talent thanks to his unique dad dancing.

David Welch, owner of Karizma dance school on Canvey, stunned audiences with his group Old Men Grooving.

The fivesome, aged 40-60, alongside Jules O’Dwyer and her puppy Matisse made it through to Sunday’s live final with their impressive routine.

With six children and two grandchildren between them David, Patrick, Fred, Phil and Brett defied the dad dancing stereotype and wowed the judges with their energetic moves.

Their routine to a mash up on Luther Vandross, Michael Jackson and Tom Jones saw the group perform the running man, give street dancing a go and jump up and down.

The audience went wild as the group paid tribute to the Fresh Prince of Bel Air with the infamous Carlton dance and the judges were on their feet.

After Jules O’Dwyer and her puppy Matisse went straight through to the final, it came down to the judges to decide Old Men Grooving’s fate.

David Walliams voted for the group with Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden backing Revelation Avenue.

Head judge Simon Cowell sent the decision to the public vote with Old Men Grooving granted their place in the final.

David Walliams said the routine was “pure joy”, a sentiment echoed by Amanda. Alesha Dixon said; “I loved it. Some classic moves in there like the Running Man.”
