A MAN who is partially sighted has called on Essex County Council to fix a pothole-ridden road.

Alan White, 66, of Oak Road, Crays Hill, is partially sighted and claims he is not able to walk down his road, because it is littered with 50 potholes.

Mr White says problems with potholes there date back years, adding ten years ago he made a claim to Essex County Council after damaging his car.

County Hall claims it has filled the holes, but Mr White says they are still there. He said: “There are about 50 holes in Oak Road and I want to know what Essex County Council is doing about it.

“It claims to have filled the holes, but they are still there. I’m registered blind and it is not safe for me to walk down it.”

An Essex Highways spokesman said: “Our records show seven reported potholes on Oak Road. Six were repaired on June 6 and the seventh has been logged for repair within our planned maintenance programme.
