A WOMAN who lost her husband and son has held a fundraising party in aid of the hospice who cared for them.

Linda Wilson, from Billericay, raised £1,650 for St Luke's Hospice in Basildon by holding a cream tea party.

Her husband Alan Currie died from bowel cancer in April 2007, while her son Tony Currie died this April from a brain tumour. She wanted to raise money for the hospice thanks to the help they gave her son and husband and has also set up the Stepping Forward bereavement support group to be there for others in a similar situation.

She said: “I wanted to give back to the hospice for the support they gave my family.

Organisations like St Luke’s do great work and support people before and after they lose a loved one.

“We raised £1,650 for the hospice and I am sure that will help many people who went through difficult times like we did."”
