A MAN was injured with a knife in Southend this morning.

Police are appealing for witnesses after two men attempted to enter a property in Coleman Street in the early hours of this morning.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was injured with a knife as two men attempted to enter his property.

Officers were contacted at about 12.20am on Thursday, July 30 after a 21-year-old man had opened his front door to go out and saw two men outside, who tried to enter the property.

As he tried to close the door, one of the suspects pulled out a knife, which the victim grabbed with his left hand.

He managed to shut the door and they left.

The victim was taken to hospital with two small cuts to his fingers, which required treatment.

Officers carried out a search of the area for the suspects but no-one was found. Enquiries are ongoing.

The suspects were described as black, between 5ft 6ins and 6ft tall, and aged in their early twenties.

One wore a baseball cap and one had a balaclava. Both wore dark clothing.
