A TEENAGER is looking forward to her future after graduating from a soughtafter insurance apprenticeship.
Keri Stroud, 19, from Billericay, is one of 38 youngsters to complete the 2014/2015 training programme at financial services group Prudential.
The apprentices were paid for their work with the firm, and gained a vocational qualification, as well as important skills and experience.
Keri, who wants to get into business, worked within the group risk department.
Placements were on offer in a range of departments, including human resources, customer services, IT, sales, distribution, financial planning and marketing.
Keri said: “Joining the Prudential apprenticeship programme was both challenging and exciting.
“Over the past 12 months, I’ve grown in self-confidence.
“Working in the group risk department has increased my business knowledge and I’ve had the opportunity to take on real responsibility and make a contribution to my team.
“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time on the programme and will take away the skills I have learnt as I go on to study at Southampton University.”
Cathy Lewis, from Prudential, added: “We recognise youth unemployment and vocational training are prominent issues in the UK and we believe apprenticeship programmes provide a vital pathway for some young people as they look to secure their first step on the career ladder.”
