A CHARITY is donating money raised to sponsor brain tumour research at a university.

The Canvey-based Danny Green Fund is using funds to pay for a day’s research each month until the end of the year at Portsmouth University.

The charity, which supports under-16s with a rare condition called posterior fossa syndrome, was set up in memory of 11-year-old Danny, who died after a battle with brain and spinal cancer.

The cost of a day’s research at the university is £2,470, and is something Danny’s family say they are passionate about funding.

Lisa Green, Danny’s mum, said: “We’ve funded one or two days here and there over the years. Our fundraising has gone really well this year, and we’ve decided to fit as many days as possible in for the rest of the year.

“Our first day this year was on July 25th, the day we lost Danny.”

The charity supports eight or nine children through weekly physio and hydrotherapy sessions each year, and says it regards both research and individual support to families as equally important.

Mrs Green said: “Whatever we have left over after helping families, we contribute to research days. I’d like to say thank you to everyone who has helped to make these days of research possible.”
