THE PREVIEW: Two wins in three days have boosted spirits at Canvey Island although they will be in for a tough test against last season’s runners-up Hendon.

The Gulls failed to win any of their first five matches this season but victories over Enfield and Billericay saw them climb to 12th, a place above tomorrow’s opposition, and lift spirits in the Canvey camp.

Hendon have lost their last three matches, and have failed to score in the last two.

The Greens won the corresponding fixture 1-0 last time out.

WHAT HE SAYS: Canvey manager Danny Heale said: “It has been a good week for us and the feeling around the club is a positive one.

“We face a tough game as Hendon are a good side but it may or may not be a good side to play them.

“We know they have lost a few in a row and I don’t know if they will want to play us on the back of a decent couple of results ourselves.

“The only two games we have lost were down to goalkeeping error but we have bought in Conor Gough, below, and he has kept two clean sheets so far which is encouraging for everyone at the club as it has been a bit of a problem position for us.

“I still want to add a couple of players to the team and hopefully we will be able to do something by the time the game comes around tomorrow.”

FORM GUIDE: WWLDD

TEAM NEWS: Canvey have a fully-fit squad available for the match tomorrow, with selection issues Heale’s only concern.
