Choirs will be performing at London's Royal Albert Hall this Sunday evening, September 6, in the prestigious BBC Proms concerts.

The choir will perform with the BBC Concert Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Chorus and the London Philharmonic Choir in Carl Orff's “Carmina Burana”.

This prestigious concert will be broadcast live on Radio 3, and the singers will be performing to a capacity audience of over 7,000.

Roger Humphrey, conductor of the choir, said: “Over the years the Southend Boys’ and Girls’ choirs have been invited several times to participate in this international concert series, which regularly attracts capacity audiences.

“In 2006 the choirs performed for HRH Queen Elizabeth's 80th Birthday Prom, and in 2007 100 singers were awarded Blue Peter Badges for singing in the BBC Blue Peter Prom.

“The choirs are no strangers to the Royal Albert Hall, and will be performing there this month and also at Christmas time when they will be singing 2 concerts with Aled Jones.”
