VULNERABLE children will be offered anger management treatment and psychological support as part of a new scheme.
Essex County Council has launched a therapeutic fostering scheme, aimed at supporting youngsters who have experienced significant neglect or trauma.
Children will have care from a range of professionals, including weekly support from a clinical psychologist.
The council is recruiting foster carers to be part of the scheme.
Previous experience of fostering is not necessary, but applicants should have proven experience of working with challenging young people.
Dick Madden, councillor responsible for children’s services, said: “Therapeutic fostering is fostering with a difference.
“You will be providing a supportive family and working directly with a child with high-level needs. It is a challenging but hugely rewarding vocation.”
In return, the council offers a weekly fee, specialist training, ongoing career development and 28 nights of paid respite.

There will also be a fostering information event taking place at Holiday Inn, Festival Leisure Park, Basildon, on October 21, at 7pm.
