A TEENAGER has been charged with possessing an air weapon in a public place.
A 17-year-old from Rochford, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested after police were called by members of the public concerned that a man was in a car holding a black handgun.
Officers were sent to Queens Road, Southend, to search for the car and discovered it in Rochford – three miles away.
The driver was stopped, searched and charged at about 10.20pm last Wednesday. He is scheduled to appear at Southend Youth Court on October 29. The air weapon – a BB gun – was recovered.
