A BOMB disposal team has been spotted on Southend's seafront.
The Royal Naval Bomb Disposal Unit are thought to have been called to Western Esplanade at around 11am.
Two HM Coastguard vehicles were also spotted at the scene.
The Royal Navy confirmed that two four-inch projectile explosives, dating from the Second World War, have been found.
An area has been cordoned off and the explosives are expected to be destroyed in a controlled explosion shortly after 1pm.
A spokesperson for the Royal Navy said: "An area has been cordoned off and there is no danger to the public."
