A NEW £3million club will open in Basildon next month.

Work is underway to transform the former Sky bar, at the Festival Leisure Park, into a 1,700 capacity venue called Unit 7.

The club, which will have three separate rooms of music, will create 80 new jobs.

Darren Guyon, general manager of Unit 7, part of the Deltic Group, said: “Split over three levels, Unit 7 is set to offer clubbers a unique experience in a state-of-the-art setting. Customers can expect a line-up of internationally acclaimed DJs, 21 private booths, table service and the latest light and sound technology. We look forward to welcoming them and seeing their reaction to this amazing new venue.”

The official launch weekend will take place between Thursday, November 12, and Sunday, November 15.

DJ and producer Philip George, best known for his smash hit Wish You Were Mine, will make a guest appearance on the opening night.

Studio will be the room to enjoy club classics and party anthems, Arena will cater for house music fans, and Rhythm will offer something for R&B lovers.

There will also be a Caribbean-inspired rooftop bar, Montego Bay, which will specialise in rum cocktails.

Liquid, Envy, New York, New York, and JJ's all closed earlier this year to make way for new restaurants and a soft play centre.
