ACTOR Orlando Bloom joined Jamie Oliver to film the latest episode of his TV show.

The Pirates of The Carribean star met Jamie in his Southend Pier cafe for the latest instalment of Jamie and Jimmy's Friday Night Feast.

Goldie Hawn was also in Southend yesterday.

The show features a different celebrity joining Jamie and Jimmy Doherty, with the latest guests being David Tennant and comedian Jack Whitehall.

Last night Jamie, Jimmy and Orlando spent a night a Southend's Roslin Beach Hotel.

Crowds gathered at the end of the pier to get a glimpse of the action and pictures of Lord of the Rings star Orlando Bloom.

He took on the role of waiter while Jamie and Jimmy did the cooking.

We heard he was coming here. It is good for the town and good for Southend.

Jenny Roles, 49, from Chelmsford, was visiting the pier with friends and had no idea that the stars would be in Southend.

Ron Woodley, Southend Council leader, explained how great it is for the pier to attract so many celebrities.

He said: “It is great to see so many famous faces visiting our equally famous pier and seafront and I hope that they all enjoy their time here. I am sure that they are all getting a great Southend welcome.


“Orlando Bloom is a major movie star, and I also understand Goldie Hawn was here yesterday. “There is a real buzz around Southend at the moment and this just adds to that.”


Zoe Collins, creative director of the show, said the day had gone really well and she is glad that celebrities get the chance to come and do the show in Southend.


“Southend is amazing for them, guests have always said they have had such good fun at Southend. It’s lovely here, there is a holiday vibe and it’s something a bit different.”
