A SECTION of the A130 in Rayleigh will be closed overnight for three weeks in the new year.

The A130 Northbound and associated sliproad from the A127 at Rayleigh to the A132 at Rettendon will be closed between 8.30pm and 6am from January 4 while the second phase of the dual carriageway’s maintenance is completed.

The closure will affect the A130 Northbound and associated slip from A127 at Rayleigh to A132 at Rettendon. Traffic will be diverted northbound from Rayleigh Spur Roundabout south of the A127 through Fairglen Interchange (A1245/A127) via the A1245 Battlesbridge Bypass.

Because of the layout of the road, the type of machinery used and the fact that the works equipment extend across the nearside lane of the carriageway, an overnight total closure of a section of the bypass is necessary for the duration of the next phase, to ensure the safety of both the workforce and the travelling public.

CountyRoute, which is responsible on behalf of Essex County Council for the operation and maintenance of the A130, has been in consultation with Essex County Council and Essex Police to agree methods of working and diversion routes. The diversion routes will be clearly signed.
