LOOKING for something to do this weekend? We've put together a list of some things happening in Essex. 

1. MASSAGING, handwriting analysis and more will be on offer in Billericay this weekend to help raise funds for a worthy cause.

The Reading Rooms in High Street will play host to a range of therapies on Saturday from 10am.

The event is being staged to raise money for Tony Cunningham, a primary progressive multiple sclerosis patient.

Mr Cunningham recently returned from Mexico after receiving a type of stem cell treatment not available on the NHS. The fundraiser will help contribute to the £40,000 cost of the operation.

2. A BIRD show is taking place at the Mill Hall, Bellingham Lane, Rayleigh on Sunday, February 14 from 10.30am to 2pm.

Entrance fees are £3 each and £8 to hire tables for selling.

3. THE Royals in Southend is staging a funked-up, free fashion show to entertain and inspire visitors ahead of Valentines’ Day.

The shopping centre is hosting a spring fashion event this Saturday, showcasing the latest styles to hit its shops.

There will be a series of runway shows throughout the day, at 11am, midday, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm, mixing traditional catwalk displays of collections from Royals stores with incredible dance action.

4. A CHURCH is holding a jumble sale.

The St Nicholas Church, in Long Road, Canvey is holding the event on Saturday February 13 from 10am. Entry is 20p each.

All proceeds will go towards the church funds.

5. A VALENTINE Vintage Fair will be held in Southend this Saturday.

The event, in Clarence Hall, Clarence street, runs from 10am to 4.30pm and costs £1 to enter.

There will be a pop up tea shop, a hairdresser, singers and entertainment all day.

6. Winterwatch: Kids Birdwatching Club will be held at Rainham Marshes nature reserve, New Tank Hill Road, Purfleet, Thurrock, this Saturday.

Children are invited between 10am and 12.30pm. 

It costs £2.50 for members and £5 for non members.

7. THE National Trust is looking for volunteers. The trust will hold an open day for Grange Barn and Paycocke’s, in Coggeshall, on Saturday at 12.30pm at the site in West Street.

Volunteers are needed for jobs including telling the histories and stories of the properties to visitors, working in the coffee shop and admissions.

8. FAMILIES are invited to a series of craft days, organised by the RSPB. 

The conservation charity's Nest Box Week will take place at the Wat Tyler Country Park, Pitsea Hall Lane, from this Saturday to Friday from 10am. 

Guests will learn to make the perfect environment for birds to lay their eggs in time for spring.

9. BRAINTREE Male Voice Choir is holding Men Sing Aloud, a singing workshop for men.

It will take place on the morning of February 13 at Braintree town hall centre, in Market Square.

If you are a man and have ever thought about singing, you are welcome to join with members of the choir, under the direction of their conductor, David Wood, as they learn a selection of pop song arrangements, folk songs and songs from the shows.

Experienced singers and beginners are welcome.

The workshop will begin at 9.45am, and will involve two learning sessions, with a break for refreshments in the middle.

At 12.30pm, there will be a short performance of everything we have learnt, which will be open to all.

10. DANCE to music from a bygone era at Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome, Hackmans Lane, Purleigh, on Sunday. 

With dance instruction from our experts, no partners required. Also valentines afternoon tea. Runs between 2pm and 5pm.
