A COUNCILLOR is calling on residents to back a community project in Thundersley.

Colin MacLean, Tory councillor for Cedar Hall, has set up “Town Team,” a committee group made up of residents, traders, places of worship, freeholders and councillors.

Mr MacLean added that the group’s role is to promote the village, organise community events, engage the community and support local business.

He said: "Thundersley Village residents have a fantastic community spirit and in recent months we have seen successful projects like Thundersley in the Pink supporting Lady McAdden and the Christmas Fayre brightening the Hart Road shopping area.

"I am confident that this new group will be able to deliver a number of community initiatives including a picnic on The Common to celebrate the Queens 90th birthday, new hanging flower baskets to brighten the shopping area and the introduction of a Village Craft market.

"People can make a positive difference and I hope that residents will join me for the first meeting of the Town team and offer their skills to the group.

“We are not looking for any money only a spoonful of community spirit"

The group is holding its first meeting at Castle Point Borough Council, in Kiln Road on Thursday, March 3.
