ESSEX saw the first few flakes of snow fall this evening as temperatures plummeted.
People in Basildon, Brentwood and Billericay reported seeing snow.
Forecasters from Essex Weather Centre issued a yellow warning for snow and ice at 5.20pm on Sunday.
They said Sunday night would see the mercury fall to -1 and widespread frost. Snow flurries are predicted through the night across the county.
On Monday, it will be sunnier but colder due to Northerly winds. There will be sleety showers, possibly snow, in some places across Essex.
Wednesday will also see some snow showers but Essex will see clear skies from Thursday onwards.
People took to Twitter this evening to celebrate (or criticise) the snow showers.
