THE heartbroken mum of a murdered horse groom intends to visit her daughter's killer in prison to finally come to terms with the savage attack.

Laura Davies, 21, was killed by controlling boyfriend Jordan Taylor in Pitsea, in July, after she decided to break up with him.

Her mum Dyanne Lambert, of Churchill Avenue, Basildon, said the family was “absolutely devastated” and struggling to deal with her daughter’s death at the Essex Horse and Pony Protection Society, on July 3.

Unemployed Taylor, 22, who stabbed Laura 81 times in a frenzied attack, was convicted of murder and jailed for a minimum of 23 years in January.

Ms Lambert said that now that a few months has passed since his conviction, she now feels ready to meet him face-to-face to get answers.

In an exclusive interview with the Echo, she said: "I want to get hold of his address and prison number, because I want to write him a letter now things have settled down a bit and I have a clearer head.

"I want to ask him the real reason why he did what he did - that's what I am struggling with.

"We have never known why and I would just like to know.

"I just want to understand why he went mad at her as it just doesn't make sense.

"Then I am going to ask if I can go and visit him to see him face to face. I just want to see him face up to what he has done because he didn't look at us in the dock or admit anything at court.

"He had no emotions.

"I could never forgive him for what he did but I want to get closure."

Miss Davies was stabbed multiple times outside her workplace, the Essex Horse and Pony Protection Society, on July 3.

She was an animal lover, who worked as a stable groom, having joined the Pitsea sanctuary as an apprentice in January 2013.

Although Laura did not suffer any physical violence from Taylor prior to the fatal attack, Ms Lambert warned that people need to be aware of the warning signs of controlling behaviour and domestic abuse, before it is too late.

In Laura’s case, she became withdrawn and isolated from her family, after Taylor became increasingly controlling.

He would not allow her to wear short-sleeved or low cut tops, stopped her from going out and had taken control of her bank account.
