RUNNER beans, tomatoes and cabbages were all on sale as college students hosted a plant sale.
The group, who are currently studying horticulture at Seevic College, spent weeks growing the seedlings into a variety of vegetables and bedding plants.
Members of the public were invited to the sale in the atrium at Castle Point Council’s offices in Kiln Road, Thundersley, next door to the college’s Runnymede Chase campus.
The event proved popular with keen gardeners as within the first two hours nearly half of the plants had already been sold.
Students also sold hanging baskets and containers.
Teacher Janet Perry said the group raised £160 during the sale which was held between 10.30am and 2pm.
She said: “I would like to thank Kellie Longhurst for arranging the opportunity for our students gain our students the experience of selling their plants to the general public.
“All the students thoroughly enjoyed the event and received many positive comments and much appreciation.”
All profit goes towards funding future projects in horticulture, enabling the students to learn the many skills and techniques used in growing and maintaining plants.
