Two teenagers were arrested for burglary and car theft after a high-speed police chase.

Officers attempted to stop a suspected stolen Vauxhall Corsa following an ANPR activation shortly after 6.05pm on Monday, May 23.

It failed to stop for officers and was pursued to the A1245 in Rayleigh, where they stopped it between the Fairglen Interchange and Carpenters Arms roundabout.

A 19-year-old man from Basildon was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving other than in accordance with a licence, driving without insurance, theft of a motor vehicle, burglary and theft from a vehicle.

A 16-year-old girl from Canvey was arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft from a vehicle and theft of a motor vehicle.

Both were released on bail until August 16 pending further enquiries.
