ROADWORKS will be lifted by Highways England from tomorrow to help improve journey times.

The authority will remove works on the M25 between junction 29-30 near Romford, and on the A282 Dartford Crossing east tunnel before the bank holiday.

Roads Minister Andrew Jones said: “We are delivering the biggest improvement to roads since the 1970s to improve journeys for drivers in the busiest periods and to create new capacity.

“We do not want work to stand in the way of families during their bank holiday getaway, so I am pleased roadworks are being removed at so many locations.”

The roadworks removal comes as part of the authority’s plans to lift 188 sets of roadworks, leaving 97 per cent of its 9,534-mile network free of roadworks in time for the bank holiday.

The government is investing £15billion to deliver the biggest upgrade to motorways and major A-roads, to help cut congestion.
