THE Echo has teamed up with the Orsett Show to mark the 110th anniversary of the popular country event.

This year’s show looks set to be bigger and better than ever before, with the Bolddog FMX Team signed up as the headline act.

The freestyle motocross team, which travels the UK and Europe, are the best in the business and the official stunt group for Honda.

They are set to wow the crowds at the show, taking place on Saturday, September 3, with back flips and other extreme motor sports action.

Other attractions will include a parade of steam engines, a birds of prey demonstration and a sheep dog display.

Aside from the main area, there will also be horticulture, agriculture, hobbies and handicrafts, crafts and school marquees.

The horse ring- which proves to be one of the busiest and most successful sections of the show every year- will feature many events and competitions.

Georgina Clark, show secretary, said: “There is so much to be seen and done at the Show for both children and adults.”

Other attractions on offer include a traditional bakery show, circus performers, helicopter rides and classic cars.

The event has grown into one of the oldest one-day country shows in England since it began life as a traditional horticultural and agricultural display.

To celebrate the milestone 110th Orsett Show, we will be launching a poetry competition alongside event organisers.

Readers will be asked to write a poem to mark another landmark celebration this year- the Queen’s 90th birthday.

Leading up the event, taking place at Orsett Showground, off Rectory Road, Orsett, the Echo will publish more details about what to expect and more information about the competition.
