A MUCH-LOVED cat has been given a farewell with a commemorative plaque.
The plaque has been put up at Southend Victoria station for staff and passengers to remember black and white stray JoJo.
After she was put to sleep late last month, but a crowd-funding campaign by the British Transport Police raised £805 for a send-off.
The £690 raised from fundraising will also go to Cats Protection.
JoJo moved into the station in 2001, and spent her time between the station and the nearby British Transport Police office, in Victoria Avenue.
She was popular with staff as well as becoming a regular part of commuters’ journeys. Friends of JoJo took to social media to commend the farewell effort, calling the plaque and fundraising “wonderful” and “a lovely thought.”
